Currently Enrolled Graduate Students
If you are currently a Graduate Student at UC Davis, we have put together the following information to simplify the steps you need to take to apply for financial aid each year.
Scholarships/Fellowships for Graduate Students
January 15: Apply for scholarships/fellowships through Graduate Studies.
Reapply for Financial Aid Each Year
- Apply using FAFSA on the Web (FOTW) beginning January 1 and before March 2. List the UC Davis school code, 001313, to have your information sent to us.
- Use the PIN (Personal Identification Number) you applied for last year at pin.ed.gov. The PIN will allow you and your parents to sign the FAFSA online, and to make changes and corrections online after you file. If you've forgotten your PIN, you can get assistance on the site or you can apply for a new PIN.
- When we receive your FAFSA information, UC Davis will review your eligibility, and request additional documentation if your file is selected for verification.
- Applications are randomly selected for verification, but don't be surprised if you are chosen two years in a row (or every year), it happens! Keep copies of important papers such as income tax returns, W-2 forms and bank statements.
- By the end of summer you'll be notified by postcard to view your financial aid through MyAwards. You can also check awards from your department online beginning in late May or early June. Read all of the requirements and take care of business before the beginning of Fall Quarter.
- After your aid is processed you will be notified by UC Davis e-mail. You can view and accept or decline your awards through MyAwards. Be sure you are viewing the upcoming year.
Maintain Eligibility
Students who receive financial aid are expected to maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) to remain eligible for financial aid. In addition, students who withdraw, drop out, or drop below half-time enrollment may be required to repay financial aid. We recommend all students read the Satisfactory Academic Progress Standards and the Return To Title IV Funds policies to learn about their responsiblities as financial aid recipients.
Sign-Up for Direct Deposit
Students are encouraged to sign-up for Direct Deposit to receive timely payments directly to their bank accounts.
Coursework Only Status
Coursework Only is an admission status for students who are enrolled in coursework and paying fees, but have not been admitted into a degree-bearing program. This status is also referred to as Non-Matriculation and Limited Status. Students may be in Coursework Only status for no more than 3 consecutive quarters and only once during their educational history. Students may only apply for alternative loans while in this status. To obtain more information about Coursework Only Admission status, visit the Graduate Studies Web site to learn more about "Non-degree Status": gradstudies.ucdavis.edu/prospective/admissions.html
