Frequently Asked Questions
FALL QUARTER
- I received a scholarship this year. Do I need to apply again for next year?
Yes, you should apply for scholarships each year. Visit the Undergraduate Scholarship Application beginning October 1 for information about applying for scholarships.
- Will financial aid pay my fees on time?
Financial Aid will disburse to accounts on September 15. The funds will go toward paying your outstanding balance. If there is not enough money to cover the balance due, you are responsible to pay the remainder amount by the fee deadlines.
Reminder: All financial aid documents must be received and requirements satisfied before financial aid can disburse. Check the status of your financial aid through MyAwards.
- What is the deadline to turn in my documents for verification? The deadline was July 15! If you have not submitted your documents yet, we advise you to do so immediately. We cannot guarantee that aid will be available for Fall Quarter if your documents are submitted after the deadline. Check MyAwards to see if you are selected and, if so, what documents are required.
- My mom lost her job this year. Can my financial aid be reevaluated based on the change in our financial circumstances?
Yes, you can apply for Special Circumstance Review consideration by completing the Special Circumstance Review Form available on our Web site. The circumstances we will consider are loss of income or resources due to death, divorce, layoff, retirement, unemployment, disability, child or spousal support. The deadline to submit the form and required documentation is February 12.
- I completed my Master Promissory Note for my Direct Loan already. How come my requirement is not satisfied?
In order for your promissory note requirement to be satisfied, you must first accept your loan AND complete the online master promissory note. If you have been selected for Verification you will not be able to accept your loan until all verification requirements on MyAwards are satisfied.
- I received a letter from the Financial Aid Office saying that I am not meeting Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP). What should I do? If we were unable to offer you financial aid due to your SAP status, you will need to file an appeal to have your aid reinstated. Visit the SAP Standards page for the appeal form and deadlines. If you received an SAP warning letter, we recommend you meet with your academic advisor to explore ways to improve your study skills and your grades.
- I was awarded Work-Study? Where can I look for jobs and what if I can't find one? Visit the Student Employment Web site at jobs.ucdavis.edu for job listings online. If you can't find a job, submit the Work-Study Deferment form before December 1 or your award will be cancelled.
