Federal Verification
If your FAFSA is selected for Federal Verification, the Financial Aid Office is required by federal regulation to request additional documents (e.g., tax returns) to verify the information on your FAFSA. You will also be asked to complete a Verification Worksheet, available on the Financial Aid Office Web site, see Undergraduate Forms, and submit it along with your tax returns. We cannot disburse financial aid until all verification and documentation requirements are satisfied.
All financial aid awarded is subject to change after verification.
Changes in Enrollment
If you reduce the number of units you are taking or switch to part-time status, you may be required to repay financial aid already received. Full-time enrollment for *undergraduates is 12 or more units per quarter.
The Financial Aid Office verifies unit totals before disbursement of financial aid and at the end of each quarter. Checks cannot be released to students who are on a waiting list for courses/units until the units are authorized on the Student Information System (SIS).
*Undergraduates are required to take an average of 39 units per academic year to meet Satisfactory Academic Progress.
Withdrawal from School
To officially withdraw from school, you must complete and submit to the Office of the Registrar a Notice of Cancellation/Withdrawal form. When the Financial Aid Office receives notice of your withdrawal, we will recalculate your financial aid eligibility based on the date of withdrawal. The Financial Aid Office will determine the amount of aid you are entitled to keep (if any) and the amount of funds that must be returned to the University, the State, and Title IV programs. You may request a copy from the Financial Aid Office of the formula used to determine refunds and return to aid amounts. Read About Return of Title IV Funds and Refund Policies for more information about how your financial aid is affected if when you withdraw from school.
