Summer financial aid is available for newly admitted freshmen and transfer students which includes the Special Transitional Enrichment Program (STEP). Please see below for your corresponding group on requirements that need to be completed to be eligible for summer financial aid.
Special Transitional Enrichment Program (STEP)
STEP is a two-year program that begins with a six-week summer residential program. STEP offers participants six units of college credit, academic advising, skill development opportunities, and an orientation to the campus.
Students in the STEP program admitted for fall 2023 will need to complete the following criteria to be eligible for financial aid:
- Submit your Statement of Intent to Register
- Submit a Statement of Legal Residence
- University Policy requires all students to submit a Statement of Legal Residence (SLR), which is used to determine tuition charges. Campus residence determinations may also impact financial aid. Visit the Office of the University Registrar for more information about the Statement of Legal Residence.
- File a 2022-23 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or California Dream Act Application (CADAA) by June 30, 2023, as the summer term will be part of the 2022-23 academic year. UC Davis school code 001313.
- Submit your online Summer Session Application to the Office of Undergraduate Education.
- Complete all verification requirements and submit documents requested by our office. Requirements can be viewed in your MyAwards under the Requirements tab. Please make sure to select the 2022-23 term.

Other Newly Admitted Freshman and Transfer Students
Newly admitted freshman and transfer students for fall 2023 must meet the following criteria to be eligible for summer financial aid:

- Once you have registered for summer courses apply for summer financial aid by submitting a paper Summer Financial Aid Application.
- Complete all verification requirements and submit documents requested by our office. Requirements can be viewed in your MyAwards under the Requirements tab. Please make sure to select the 2022-23 term.
