Financial Aid for Graduate & Professional Students

Professional Schools

GRADUATE ACADEMIC STUDENTS TO BE OFFERED LOANS BEGINNING AUGUST 29, 2008.

The late awarding of Direct Loan allows Graduate Studies and academic departments/programs time to finalize their block grant, fellowship, scholarship, Work-Study, and Teaching Assistant (TA) and Graduate Student Researcher (GSR) assistantships. Loans are considered a viable source of support only after all non-loan sources are awarded.

To prevent graduate students from becoming overawarded, a placeholder equal to the full amount of in-state fees will be posted on eFAN before any student loans will be offered. If fee remissions are posted, the placeholder will be reduced each quarter. Graduate students are asked to continue to report to the Financial Aid Office all department and/or outside awards and resources that they expect to receive.

Fall Hours:

The Graduate Financial Aid reception window will re-open starting Tuesday, September 2 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. During the Fall Opening of School, we will expand our hours from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. beginning Monday, September 22 through Wednesday, September 24, 2008.

Welcome!

The financial needs and lifestyle demands of UC Davis graduate students are very different from those of undergraduates. The Financial Aid Office recognizes those differences and works to provide services that are specific to graduate student needs.

Graduate Financial Aid staff are ready to determine eligibility for, and to deliver federal, state, and University need-based aid to graduate students affiliated with the Office of Graduate Studies, the School of Education, the Graduate School of Management, and the School of Veterinary Medicine. Our office also serves as the office of record in coordinating need-based aid with all other department and outside funding sources to prevent overpayment of funds. The Assistant Director of Graduate Financial Aid also assists with coordination of the Financial Aid satellite operations at the Schools of Law and Medicine.
