Types of Undergraduate Scholarships
UC Davis students are awarded several types of scholarships, including those administered by the campus, the University of California and outside agency/private organizations.
UC Davis Funds
UC Davis administers several hundred scholarship funds, totaling over $3.5 million in endowed and annual gifts. Most of these scholarships, created through generous gifts by a donor or other friend of the campus, or through a corporation or business, have certain restrictions a student must meet in order to be eligible. Visit our UC Davis Undergraduate Scholarship Funds page to see a full listing of awards and their descriptions.
Regents Scholarship
The Regents Scholarship is the most prestigious scholarship administered by the University and is generally offered to about the top 4 percent of the admitted class. A monetary award is accompanied by several perks not typical of an undergraduate scholarship. Freshmen applicants are considered solely on the basis of information contained in the UC application for admission and scholarships which must be received by the November 30th deadline; no other documentation is required. Transfer applicants must also submit the UC application for admission and scholarships by November 30th; additionally, a letter of recommendation is required. Review the Regents Scholarship Web site for more information about the award; visit the Undergraduate Scholarship Apply page for more information about the letter of recommendation requirement for transfer applicants.
Alumni Scholarships
The Cal Aggie Alumni Association has been sponsoring scholarships for UC Davis students since 1934. These one-time awards range from $1000 – $4000. Students must apply for this competitive scholarship by February of the year prior to enrollment at UC Davis. Criteria and application instructions are on the CAAA Web site.
Prestigious Scholarships
The Undergraduate Scholarship Office manages the distribution of information for highly competitive, merit-based scholarship and fellowships for all UC Davis students. All of the scholarships/fellowships listed here are externally funded and most have a maximum number of campus nominees. Students may be required to complete a preliminary campus application and participate in a campus interview. This is indicated by the campus application deadline date.
Outside Agency Scholarships
Each year, a number of organizations contact the Undergraduate Scholarship Office to assist with publicizing their scholarship opportunities. The deadlines for these Outside Agency Scholarships vary; please review the listing and associated Web site for more details and contact the organization directly with questions.
