Financial Aid Information for International Students
To qualify for Federal, State, or University funding you must be a U.S. Citizen or an eligible non-citizen and you must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Financial aid is not available for students with F1 or F2 Student Visas, J1 or J2 Exchange Visitor Visas, or G Series Visas. However:
- As an international student, you are eligible for many campus-based scholarships, and will automatically be considered for those based on your admissions application. You will be notified by the UC Davis Undergraduate & Prestigious Scholarship Office if you are awarded a scholarship. For information on the application process, including joining the Scholarship Opportunities Listserv, please visit our website at financialaid.ucdavis.edu/scholarships/index.html.
- Throughout the year, a number of outside organizations contact the Undergraduate & Prestigious Scholarships Office to publicize their scholarship opportunities. To help our students access the many available scholarships, we maintain the Outside Agency Scholarships page. The selection criteria, application process, and deadlines for these external scholarships vary, so please review the listings and associated websites for more detailed information. International students are welcome to apply for these scholarships, as long as you meet the requirements. And be sure to contact these organizations directly with any questions you may have. We have also listed some scholarship resources at the bottom of this page.
- For international students who need additional financial assistance, the University of California maintains information on Alternative/Private Loans. Please refer to the lender list provided specifically for international students.
- For more information about the services available for international students on the UC Davis campus, please contact the Services for International Students and Scholars (SISS) website at siss.ucdavis.edu.
