Top 5 questions of the week

Based on inquiries by phone and email, below are the top five topics of the week.

  • I am newly admitted, and UC Davis does not have my FAFSA. What do I need to do?
  • Did you put UC Davis 001313 on your FAFSA? If UC Davis is not at the top of your list of schools, it was not sent to us. Please log in to your Free Application for Federal Student Aid, or FAFSA, and put UC Davis as the number one school. Your FAFSA will then be sent to us, and we can calculate a financial aid offer for you.  This process takes 7-10 business days. You may call the FAFSA Help Desk at (800) 433-3243 for help in doing this.

If UC Davis is a top school, then your social security number, or SSN, is likely incorrect on your UC Davis application. Please log in to MyAdmissions and submit a change to your application to update your SSN. You will need to submit a copy of your Social Security card. Once your application is updated by Undergraduate Admissions, we will be able to calculate a financial aid offer for you. This process will take 10-15 business days.

  • I am newly admitted, and UC Davis does not have my CADAA. What do I need to do?
  • Please log in to California Student Aid Commission Webgrants, and print a PDF copy (all pages) of the California Dream Act Application, or CADAA, Submission Summary, or SAR, and send it to Brenda through Contact an Expert. We will locate your CADAA and then calculate a financial aid offer for you. This process will take 10-15 business days.

  • Will I receive financial aid if I take summer courses?
  • We are pleased to announce that the summer financial aid estimator is now available!

For additional information and eligibility requirements, please see the financial aid eligibility requirements.

For additional information, please visit Summer financial aid.

  • I am newly admitted, and my family has had a loss of income. What can we do?
  • If your family has had a change in income, you may use the financial aid estimator to assess how your aid may change.  Please visit Estimate your aid. We will accept official appeals beginning in July.

  • I am newly admitted and do not see my Cal Grant in my aid offer.  Why not?
  • We begin our Cal Grant process in August.

Cal Grant eligibility is determined by the California Student Aid Commission, or CSAC. Please log in to WebGrants to confirm your eligibility. If you are eligible based on your WebGrants information, meet the income ceiling requirements found here, and have financial need as determined by our office, you will see the Cal Grant offered in the fall quarter after our office verifies you meet the requirements as an entering transfer student.

If we determine you are eligible for Cal Grant, your aid offer will be adjusted to make room.
