James C. Gaither Junior Fellows Program

Award

One-year paid fellowship ($3,916.67/month for 10-12 months, $1,500 relocation allowance, and benefits) to work as a research assistant to a senior associate that Carnegie Endowment for International Peace.  Approximately 15 fellows are selected annually with the fellowship beginning August 1st.

Eligibility

  1. Must be a graduating senior at time of application or have graduated within the previous academic year
  2. Must not have begun a graduate degree

Candidate Profile

Students are applying to work on a specific program at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace and should, therefore, research the available programs for the year. Applicants should have completed a significant amount of coursework related to their program, and it is generally helpful if the applicant has already done research in their discipline as well. Fellows work as research assistants so applicants should have a strong desire to work in research. Language and other skills may be highly desirable or required for certain programs. Applicants with an undergraduate cumulative GPA of 3.6 or greater are encouraged to apply.

Campus Procedure

The Gaither Junior Fellowship program allows participating campuses to nominate Three (3) applicants for consideration.  To be considered for one of UC Davis nomination slots, interested candidates should submit a completed Gaither Junior Fellowship Application (with all documents listed on page 2) to Prestigious Scholarship Advisor Scott Palmer by the campus deadline.
