National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, Ernest F. Hollings Scholarship

Award

Winners receive up to $9,500 per year for two (2) academic years towards an undergraduate degree. Winners also receive a paid full-time 10-week summer internship at a NOAA facility, funds to attend a one (1) week NOAA program orientation, and funding for conference travel to present the results from the summer internship.

Eligibility

  1. U.S. citizen
  2. Enrolled in the second year of a four-year program or the third year of a five-year program
  3. GPA of 3.0 or greater in each quarter as well as in major field classes
  4. Must have a declared major in a field that is related to NOAA’s mission. Majors include, but are not limited to:  oceanic, environmental, biological, and atmospheric sciences, mathematics, engineering, remote sensing technology, physical and social sciences including geography, physics, hydrology, geomatics, or teacher education that supports NOAA’s programs and mission.

Candidate Profile

Applicants should have an interest in NOAA’s mission and should clearly demonstrate how their research can support NOAA. Applicants should be prepared with potential research interests for the summer internship and have a willingness to travel for the internship and conference presentation.
