Award

Capital Fellows receive 10-11 months of paid, full-time policy employment in the Legislative, Executive, or Judicial Branch office of California state government. Fellows receive medical, dental, and vision benefits and a one-time moving allowance of $875, along with paid university enrollment and six graduate units leading to a Graduate Certificate in Applied Policy and Government. 

Eligibility

  1. Must have a completed bachelor’s degree by September 1 of the fellowship year and either a cumulative undergraduate GPA of 2.5 or higher or a GPA of 2.5 or higher in the last 90 quarter units.
  2. Must be 20 years of age or older by September 1 of the fellowship year.
  3. Non-U.S. citizens must provide proof of appropriate immigration status.  The program does not meet the requirements for F-1 or J-1 visas, nor any work permits requiring participation in the E-Verify system.
