Award
An award of $3,000 - $7,000 for undergraduates to participate in study abroad programs in participating Asian countries.
Eligibility
- Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
- Must receive need-based financial aid
- Must have a cumulative GPA of 2.8 or greater.
- Must study abroad in an undergraduate credit-bearing program of 8+ weeks (summer), 10+ weeks (quarter), or 12+ weeks (semester) in one of the following: Cambodia, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Laos, Macao, Malaysia, Mongolia, Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, Vietnam, and have limited exposure to their country in the past five years.
- Must have one or more undergraduate terms remaining at UC Davis after the study abroad program.

Certifying advisors
Freeman-ASIA requires a study abroad advisor to certify the eligibility of the selected program. Candidates should list Tiffany Macias-Silva ([email protected]) as the UC Davis certifying advisor.
Campus procedure
Candidates apply directly to the Freeman-ASIA Scholarship through their website. Applicants can email their full availability and CV/resume to the prestigious scholarships team to schedule advising, discuss the program and application, or for essay review.
