Freeman-Asia Scholarship

Award

An award of $3,000 - $7,000 for undergraduates to participate in study abroad programs in participating Asian countries.

Eligibility

  1. Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
  2. Must receive need-based financial aid
  3. Must have a cumulative GPA of 2.8 or greater.
  4. Must study abroad in an undergraduate credit-bearing program of 8+ weeks (summer), 10+ weeks (quarter), or 12+ weeks (semester) in one of the following:  Cambodia, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Laos, Macao, Malaysia, Mongolia, Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, Vietnam, and have limited exposure to their country in the past  five years.
  5. Must have one or more undergraduate terms remaining at UC Davis after the study abroad program.

Certifying advisors

Freeman-ASIA requires a study abroad advisor to certify the eligibility of the selected program.  Candidates should list Tiffany Macias-Silva ([email protected]) as the UC Davis certifying advisor.

Campus procedure

Candidates apply directly to the Freeman-ASIA Scholarship through their website. Applicants can email their full availability and CV/resume to the prestigious scholarships team to schedule advising, discuss the program and application, or for essay review.
