What are international scholarships?

These prestigious scholarships represent funding opportunities for students interested in participating in a program abroad. Programs include undergraduate and graduate funding, research positions and teaching opportunities. Explore the categories below to find scholarships that align with your interests and goals. 


Undergraduate funding

David L. Boren Undergraduate Scholarship

Up to one year of study abroad for students with an interest in national security.

Critical Language Scholarship

Fully funded eight to ten-week summer intensive language program.

Fulbright US-UK Summer Institutes

Full tuition and fees paid for a three to four-week-long academic and cultural program in designated locations in the UK.


Graduate studies

Churchill Scholarship

One year of graduate studies in engineering, mathematics or science at Cambridge University.

Gates Cambridge Scholarship

One to four years of tuition for graduate studies at Cambridge University.

Marshall Scholarship

Full tuition for one to three years of graduate studies at any British university.

Rhodes Scholarship

Up to three years of tuition for a graduate degree at Oxford University.

Schwarzman Scholarship

Full tuition for a one-year MA in Global Affairs at Tsinghua University in Beijing, China.


Teaching and research

Fulbright U.S. Student Program

Airfare, health insurance and a monthly stipend to spend up to a year teaching, researching or pursuing a master’s degree abroad.


Additional international scholarships

  • Benjamin A. Gilman Scholarship - Up to $5,000 for federal Pell grant recipients to participate in an undergraduate study abroad program.
  • DAAD Rise Scholarship – Full-funding for sophomores, juniors, and seniors to conduct STEM research in Germany during the summer
  • Freeman-ASIA Scholarship - Funds $3,000 - $7,000 for programs of 8+ weeks in select Asian countries
  • Luce Scholars - Provides stipends, language training, and professional placement in Asia for one post-graduate year.
  • Kanders Churchill Scholarship - Full funding to attend the Master’s in Public Policy at the University of Cambridge for applicants who have (or will attain in the upcoming year) a bachelor’s in science, mathematics, or engineering.
  • Yenching Scholarship -1 year of humanities or social science graduate studies at Peking University, Beijing.
