Award
The Yenching Academy aims to build bridges between China and the rest of the world by shaping new generations of global citizens with a nuanced understanding of China. Yenching brings together young people who have demonstrated a talent for leadership and innovation to be immersed in an intensive learning environment where they can explore China and its role in the world—past, present, and future. The program provides full-tuition, accommodation in the Yenching Academy House, stipend, round-trip airfare, and basic medical insurance to pursue a 12–24-month Master of Arts in China Studies at Peking University in Beijing, China.
Eligibility
- Citizens of any country are eligible, with international students comprising 75% of the student body
- Possess a bachelor’s degree by August 31 of the year after application
- Outstanding academic record (recommended 3.7+ GPA)
- English proficiency (Chinese proficiency not required)
- Strong interest in interdisciplinary study of China
- Record of extracurricular achievement, community engagement, social responsibility, and leadership potential
