Noyce Repayable Scholarship

The Robert Noyce Repayable Teacher Scholarship Program has been discontinued. UC Davis participated from November 2011 to July 2018. It was established by the National Science Foundation Authorization Act of 2002 to address the critical need for K-12 STEM teachers. Applications were submitted to the UC Davis MAST program, and recipients were required to be US citizens, nationals, or permanent residents. Interest began accruing upon the expiration of the grace period at an annual rate of 6.8% on the unpaid principal balance.

The Repayable Scholarship was a loan with forgiveness provisions. It became repayable if the recipient failed to meet the academic requirements of the program for which the funds were awarded or failed to complete the service requirement of the program. Qualified Teaching Service had to be completed within eight (8) years after completing the program for which the funding was awarded and had to be performed in a "high need local education agency."

For more information about qualifying schools, contact MAST. For undergraduate NOYCE recipients who attended a non-UC Davis credential program, eight years began upon separation from the UC Davis campus. The program was subject to postponement and cancellation provisions as outlined in the promissory note. To access and submit postponement and cancellation forms, visit Heartland ECSI. If you experienced issues with postponement and cancellation submissions, contact the Student Accounting Collections Team.
