Verification

Verification

Verification is a process required by the U.S. Department of Education and the California Student Aid Commission, or CSAC, that is intended to improve the accuracy of the information provided on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, the FAFSA, and the California Dream Act Application, CADAA.

If selected for verification, we may request additional documents to verify the information on your financial aid application. We cannot disburse financial aid until all verification and documentation requirements are satisfied. All financial aid awarded is subject to change after verification.

Priority deadline for 2026-27

If your 2026-27 financial aid application has an incomplete requirement for verification, promptly log in to MyAwards to submit the required documentation to help ensure your aid is ready before the start of the fall term.

Your financial aid will not be disbursed until we have reviewed and accepted your submitted documents.

  • Documents are processed on a first-submitted, first-processed basis.
  • Once your documents are reviewed and accepted, or if additional documentation is required, you will receive an email.
  • We require at least six weeks for processing your documents.
  • Once your documents are successfully processed, you will receive an email inviting you to view your financial aid in MyAwards.

Completing verification

In MyAwards under Requirements, you will see "Verification Requirements" if you are selected for verification. Click through for instructions and next steps.

Verification is completed through StudentForms. For newly admitted students, access to StudentForms will only be available after you submit your Statement of Intent to Register, or SIR, and three (3) business days after creating your UC Davis computing account.

Verification FAQs

  • How will I know if I have been selected for verification?
  • Students will be notified during the aid application filing process if they have been selected for federal verification. To see if you have been selected for verification, go to the Requirements section of MyAwards. If you are selected for verification, you will see "Verification Requirements" under Incomplete Requirements.
  • What if I am a California Dream Act student?
  • For students who file the California Dream Act Application, the CADAA, the process is similar. The California Student Aid Commission, or CSAC, also requires us to verify that the information used to complete the application is accurate by collecting supporting documentation from a percentage of students.
  • If the data on my FAFSA or CADAA is accurate, will my financial aid package change?
  • Yes, there is a chance it may. In addition to verifying certain tax information on the federal tax return, we apply an in-depth analysis when awarding our own institutional funds. There are items reported on the tax return that we take into consideration that the federal government may not. In turn, this may change the financial aid you were originally offered.
