Mitchell Scholars receive the full cost of university tuition and fees, a living expense, travel to and from the United States for one (1) year of Graduate study at a qualifying university of the student's choosing in Ireland or Northern Ireland.
Eligibility
- U.S. citizen.
- Must be between the ages of 18 and 30 during receipt of Mitchell Scholarship.
- Be a senior and plan to graduate in the current academic year, or a recent graduate.
- Must apply and be accepted into a master’s program at an eligible university in Ireland or Northern Ireland.
Candidate Profile
Applicants should be intellectually distinguished students from any field of study with substantial achievements to go along with excellent academics. Students who apply should have a desire to study in Ireland or Northern Ireland and be able to show what their chosen university will gain from their presence at the university as a Mitchell Scholar. Applicants should have four outstanding academic references.
It is important that any student who applies for the Mitchell Scholarship research all programs at qualifying universities in Ireland or Northern Ireland and select the program that is the strongest fit for their field of study.

Campus Procedure
Candidates must be endorsed by UC Davis to the official Mitchell Scholarship competition. Applicants wishing to be considered for endorsement must email a completed Pre-Application to Prestigious Scholarship Advisor Scott Palmer at scpalmer@ucdavis.edu by June 28, 2023. Applicants will also email a pdf of their Mitchell application and direct their recommenders to email their letters to Scott Palmer by August 17, 2023.
