National Institutes of Health Undergraduate Scholarship

Award

Winners receive up to $20,000 per academic year towards undergraduate tuition, educational expenses, and living expenses. For each year of the scholarship, the student will complete a 10-week paid internship and commit to working for 1 year in an NIH research laboratory.

Eligibility

  1. U.S. Citizen or U.S. Permanent Resident
  2. Currently enrolled as an undergraduate student and will be an undergraduate student the following year
  3. Cumulative GPA of 3.3 or greater, or in the top 5% of class ranking
  4. Have exceptional financial need (defined on the NIH website)

Candidate Profile

Applicants should demonstrate a commitment to a research career that can be evidenced through prior lab research, prior involvement in extracurricular science activities, or having taken advanced courses that are relevant to the chosen field. Applicants should have exceptional need and be willing to work for NIH upon graduation.

Campus Procedure
