Award

Recipients will receive $15,000 to implement a year-length, sustainable public service project.  Up to $7,000 may be given to the recipient as a scholarship to cover educational expenses, with the remaining amount funding the service project expenses.

1. Students from any country can apply
2. Sophomore or junior at time of application
3. Top 1/3 of class ranking

Candidate Profile

Applicants should be outstanding leaders with strong communication skills and a demonstrated interest in public service that displays a desire to “make a difference” in local, regional, national, or international communities.

The application requires an innovative, original, public service proposal.  Applicants will need to dedicate time and effort to submit a well-researched and compelling proposal.

Campus Procedure

UC Davis may nominate up to three proposals to the Strauss Foundation.  To be considered, candidates need to submit the application materials outlined on the Strauss webpage to the Undergraduate and Prestigious Scholarships Office at scholarships@ucdavis.edu by the campus application deadline. Campus interviews will occur after the campus application deadline to select the nominated proposals.
