Important Updates

  • The priority filing date for the 2024-25 FAFSA and CADAA has been extended to May 2, 2024. Visit Apply for Financial Aid for details.
  • The Department of Education has announced they will send information from the 2024-25 FAFSA to schools in mid-March. This may result in a delay in financial aid packaging and offers for the 2024-25 academic year. While awaiting your financial aid offer, we encourage you to utilize the UC Davis Financial Aid Estimator to estimate your potential aid.

Summer Cost of Attendance

Cost of Attendance

For summer, the Cost of Attendance is determined by the total number of units/sessions in which the student is enrolled. A student's housing budget is determined by the selection the student made during the academic year with the exception of on-campus. For summer financial aid, students are packaged either with an off-campus or commuter budget.

  • Students planning to live on campus for the summer will need to submit a Summer Change in Aid form (available in May) and a copy of the lease to have their budget adjusted.

Finding your Cost of Attendance

  1. Identify the appropriate housing status for the applicable academic year
  2. Determine the total amount of units and sessions in your enrollment.
    • Please note: If your units and/or session(s) change, the cost of attendance may be adjusted.
  3. Review the budget based on the units/session(s) enrolled:
    • Single Budget: enrolled in 6 or more units within one session only
    • Combo Budget: enrolled in 6-11.5 units with any combination between Session 1, Special Session, and/or Session 2
    • Double Budget: enrolled in 12 units or more with any combination between Session 1, Special Session, and/or Session 2

Summer Registration Fee

The Summer Registration Fee component assumes the student is enrolled in 8 units for the single/ combo budget or 16 units for the double budget.

Students will be billed for actual enrolled units. Fees are charged on a $279 per unit basis and are subject to change without prior notice.

Forms and Appeals

  • Changes to units or sessions: Students need to submit a Summer Change in Aid form.
  • For consideration of additional expenses that exceed the standard Cost of Attendance budget, students can submit a Cost of Attendance Appeal (PDF) to be submitted via Contact An Expert. Please note: the appeal for 2023-24 is only open to those enrolled in summer 2024.
